Melissa Guglielmo was named head coach of the women’s soccer program prior to the 2021 season.  She is also Maritime’s Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities.

In her first season at the helm, the Privateers posted a 6-8 record, their most wins since 2015.  Maritime notched three conference victories in 2021, including its first-ever triumph against Old Westbury.  The Privateers then started Skyline Conference play with two wins in 2022, marking the first time in program history that has occurred.

After beginning her coaching career with stops at the Long Island Professional Soccer Club and St. Anthony’s High School, Guglielmo was hired as an assistant coach at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT).  While at NYIT, she worked on all aspects of the program, including recruiting, fundraising, practice planning and coaching.  As an assistant, Guglielmo helped the Bears reach their first-ever conference championship game in 2019.

Guglielmo was a standout goalkeeper at Dowling College, where she was named East Coast Conference (ECC) Goalkeeper of the Year in her senior season.  That year, she went 11-3-2 overall with 57 saves.  As a junior in 2013, Guglielmo had a 12-3-2 mark and posted a 0.59 goals against average, allowing just 10 goals in 17 games.  The Golden Lions won back-to-back ECC Tournament titles during her freshman and sophomore campaigns, with Guglielmo earning tournament Most Outstanding Player honors in 2012.
