Michael Flicker began working at Lenoir-Rhyne in 2002 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and has worked his way up to Senior Associate Athletic Director during his time. Flicker has held the position of Head Athletic Trainer since the summer of 2011 and was promoted to Senior Associate AD in the summer of 2019. Flicker held the role of Associate Athletic Director for four years.

On top of caring for the physical health and well-being of all Lenoir-Rhyne athletes, he oversees the Strength & Conditioning staff as well as his staff of Athletic Trainers.

Lenoir-Rhyne's Sports Performance Program incorporates all facets of sports performance including athletic training, strength and conditioning, nutrition, mental wellness, sport analytics and rest and recovery.

Flicker headed up a staff which earned South Atlantic Conference Athletic Training Staff of the Year honors for the 2014-15 academic year and repeated as Staff of the Year in 2021-22.

Before becoming the school's head athletic trainer, Flicker served nine years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Lenoir-Rhyne (2002-11).

Flicker has overseen almost all of Lenoir-Rhyne's sports during his tenure with the school.  Flicker has handled athletic training supervision and general athletic training room coverage for Lenoir-Rhyne as well.

Flicker was awarded the Jeff L. Norris Non-Teaching Employee Of The Year in 2013 and became the only person in LR history to win the award a second time in 2021 when he did so following his extensive work in keeping the LR community safe during the COVID pandemic.

Prior to Lenoir-Rhyne, Flicker worked five years as a clinical instructor for Pro Active Therapy in Hickory, N.C., and served one year as Head ATC for Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists.

Flicker graduated from Temple University in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in athletic training and received his master's degree in 1993 from the University of North Carolina in sports medicine.
