Building Sustained Success

With seven years at Brockport in the books, Coach Mike Idland has worked to establish a blueprint for long-term success. The program has made it to the SUNYAC Tournament four out of his five seasons at the helm, including its first SUNYAC Semifinal appearance since 2013. In 2019, Brockport achieved its best record under Idland with a team filled with talented underclassmen and led the conference in scoring. The squad was able to get back to the conference tournament once again in 2021, making an appearance in the quarterfinals for the third time under Coach Idland.

Before Brockport

Prior to Idland’s time with the Golden Eagles, he was the head coach at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. In his eight seasons with the Panthers he accumulated a record of 88-54-6. Idland was first named the AMCC Coach of the year in 2011 after leading Pitt-Bradford to an impressive 13-3-2 record. He also was awarded the AMCC Co-Coach of the year in the 2015 season.

Olympic Development Program Experience

Additionally Idland has served as Head Goalkeeper Coach and a senior staff member of the Region I Girls’ Olympic Development Program (ODP); he also held the role of goalkeeper coach for NY West ODP.

Emphasizing Academics

Idland promotes a great balance between athletics and academics. In 2012-13 his team at Pitt-Bradford achieved a department high GPA of 3.35 which also earned the 2013 Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Here at Brockport the team was awarded the Team Academic Award with a 3.26 GPA in both 2016 and 2018. Most recently, in the fall of 2019, Idland's team collectively earned a 3.38 GPA which was the highest of all fall sports teams on campus.

Under Idland’s Guidance

In his seven years at Brockport Idland has coached 15 all-conference players, with one First-Team and one Rookie of the Year selection. In 2019 he coached the programs first USC All-Region selection since 2014.

Personal

Idland lives in East Aurora, N.Y. with his wife, Nancy, and two daughters, Marielle and Molly. Idland holds a USSF "A" license as well as an NSCAA Premier Diploma and the USSF National "Youth" license.
