Nathan Gillespie was hired as the SLU women's soccer head coach on March 18, 2022.

Prior to SLU, The Huntingdon, England native, coached two years as a graduate assistant and goalkeeper's coach at Delta State in Cleveland, Mississippi, under head coach Luke Sheekey

Gillespie helped the Statesman to several records including Most Games Won, Most Games with four or more goals scored and Most Gulf South Conference wins ever in 2018. He also helped Delta State to two Freshman of The Week awards at goalkeeper. The Statesman also had the best save percentage and goals against average in school history under Gillespie.

Gillespie played in 60 games during a four year career at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee, where he helped anchor the defense.

As a senior, Gillespie helped guide the Phoenix to a victory over No. 2 Lindsey Wilson to earn a berth in the Mid-South Conference championship game.

Recently, Gillespie has been a goalkeeper coach for the Biggleswade United senior team, as well as the Biggleswade U15 boys team.

In 2016, Gillespie also gained valuable coaching experience with Tottenham Hotspur and Cambridge United.

Following his playing career, he earned coaching experience at Sporting CT (Connecticut), where he led the U9, U10 and U14 girls programs in 2014, before leading the U10, U11 and U15 girls teams in 2015.
