Entering her 30th overall year in administration at Saint Joseph’s in 2023-24, Renie Shields was promoted to senior associate athletic director for student experience in October, 2018, and also serves as the Hawks' senior women's administrator.

Shields held the position of associate athletic director for varsity programs and senior woman administrator since 2011 and has been the director of compliance services for 20 years. She joined SJU's administration in 1993 as the compliance coordinator.

A former standout for the Hawks in basketball, cross country, and softball, she was a three-time All-Big 5 selection in basketball. Shields, formerly Dunne, was inducted into the Big 5 Hall of Fame in 1991 and into the Saint Joseph's Athletics Hall of Fame in 2001.

A 1982 graduate of Saint Joseph's, Shields was an assistant basketball coach for the Hawks from 1987 to 1993. She is entering her 23rd year as the color analyst for Saint Joseph's women's basketball internet broadcasts.

A resident of Drexel Hill, Pa., she and her husband Jim, a 1981 SJU graduate, have four children - James Jr., Kerri, Erin (SJU ‘14), and Shannon. Erin completed a standout career for the Hawks’ women’s basketball career in 2014, tying the SJU record for three-point field goals, while also being named a Division I-AAA Scholar-Athlete.
