Brevard College women's soccer alumna Sallie Riggan '21 has been added to the BC women's soccer coaching staff as Volunteer Assistant Coach, announced Head Coach Juan Mascaro."We are thrilled to welcome Sallie back to Brevard in this new role," commented Coach Mascaro. "She was a leader for us on the field during her playing career, and will be a valuable asset to the program as a coach mentoring our team."Riggan joins the BC women's soccer coaching staff after a successful five-season playing career with the Tornados."I am so excited for the opportunity to come back to this program in a different role and help contribute to its success," said Riggan. "I fell in love with Brevard as a student-athlete, so I feel lucky to be able to spend more time here, especially with this group of ladies."Riggan appeared and started in a school-record 77 matches over the course of her five-season career, scoring five goals with eight assists which included a six-assist season in the Fall 2021 campaign. Riggan ranks fourth in program history with her eight career assists, and her six single-season assists in Fall 2021 puts her top-five in the program's NCAA era.Riggan's successful 2021 season earned her USA South Conference West Division Second Team honors, as the Wilmington, North Carolina native also collected numerous USA South Academic All-Conference accolades in addition to a selection on the Spring 2021 USA South All-Sportsmanship Team. Riggan also secured Spring 2021 United Soccer Coaches Player Award of Distinction honors.Riggan graduated from Brevard College in the Winter of 2021 with a Bachelor's degree in Art.
