Sam Tracey begins her second season as goalkeeper coach for GVSU in the 2023 season.

In her first season as goalkeeper coach for the Lakers in 2022, Tracey helped the Lakers to a 16-2-5 record and 10-1-3 GLIAC mark. The Lakers advanced to the NCAA Tournament sweet sixteen for the 17th consecutive season and won the GLIAC Regular Season and Tournament Championship. Kendall Robertson was named the GLIAC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2022 under the guidance of Tracey. 

Tracey brings over 4,000 minutes of collegiate goalkeeping experience to Allendale, appearing in 63 games for Spring Arbor University (NAIA), where she was an NAIA All-American and earned the prestigious CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year. she posted a career record of 28-6-5 with 14 shutouts, helping the Cougars to an NAIA National championship in 2017, two trips to the NAIA Final Four (2018, 2020), three Crossroads League titles (2017, 2018, 2021) and a pair of tournament crowns (2017, 2018). she held a career 0.403 goals-against average and made 115 saves with a save percentage of 86.5. She's also played semi-professionally for Genesee FC and Lansing United.

In addition to her coaching duties at GVSU, Tracey also coaches at the highly-regarded club Midwest United beginning in 2022. Tracey received her USSF 'C' License in the spring of 2023. She previously coached with Genesee FC Youth, Michigan Rush Jackson, Jackson College Women's Soccer Jackson High School and Chelsea Soccer Club. She played club at the ECNL Level with Vardar FC. 

Tracey holds her USSF 'D' License and United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeper Level I license. She currently resides in Kentwood, Michigan.
