Victoria Vargas joins the staff in March 2024 after spending five seasons at the University of St. Thomas. She served as a volunteer assistant coach from 2019 to 2021 before being named assistant coach in July 2021 for the university’s Division I debut. Her duties included conducting practices, implementing in-game strategies, scouting opponents and recruiting. Vargas was a member of the staff that won the North Region Coaching Staff of the Year in 2019 and helped St. Thomas to MIAC Conference Championships in 2019 and 2021, and a MIAC Championship in 2019. The team also made a quarterfinal appearance in the 2019 Division III NCAA tournament.

Additionally, Vargas served as the Director of Coaching for the Saint Paul Blackhawks Soccer Club after two years as a staff coach, where she oversaw 14 coaches and 17 teams competing across Minnesota Youth Soccer. She also spent one season as the head coach at the Shattuck St. Mary’s School for the girls U19 team.

Vargas is involved off the field as well, serving as a member of the Athletic Alliance 4 Change program at St. Thomas where she spent two years as the Subcommittees Chair for Speakers and Programming as well as a subcommittee member for the student affinity groups. She was also a member of the Tommie P.R.I.D.E group and the Hispanic Organization for Leadership & Achievement (HOLA) at St. Thomas as well as the faculty head for the Young Women’s Affinity Group at the Shattuck St. Mary’s School.

A native of North County, San Diego, Vargas grew up playing competitive soccer in southern California. She was a four-year letterwinner for the University of St. Thomas women’s soccer team and served as team captain for two years where she earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors and led the Tommies to a MIAC conference championship in 2015. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 2016 and her USSF B License in 2023.
