Cody Hammock joined the Averett University Sports Medicine team as a sports medicine intern in August 2021 and was promoted to assistant athletic trainer in July 2022.

Hammock earned his master of science from the University of Lynchburg in May 2021 after completing his bachelor of science from Greensboro College in May 2019. He gained clinical experience with Hampden-Sydney College's football, men's soccer, golf and men's lacrosse programs during the spring of 2021. Previously, he also worked with Appomattox County High School teams, Liberty University club sports, Lynchburg field hockey and Greensboro women's lacrosse and volleyball and men's wrestling.

During his time at Greensboro, Hammock was a member of the Pride's football and men's lacrosse programs, earning USA South Academic All-Conference in 2019.
