Kayla McCloud was named the Director of Athletic Communications in October of 2022.

McCloud previously served as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications for the 2021-2022 school year before being promoted to the director position. She returned to Concordia in the fall of 2021 after a brief stint at Illinois State University, where she was part of the social media efforts for multiple Redbird teams.

Prior to her time at Illinois State, McCloud spent three years as a student assistant in the athletic communications department. During her time at CUC she helped craft the CUC social media presence by creating videos and graphics. During the 2019 CUC Baseball postseason run, McCloud's content was seen over a half million times across Twitter and Instagram. Her work has been featured by multiple NCAA digital publications.

Since McCloud's return to CUC, the Concordia University Chicago Athletics social media accounts have seen over a 400% growth and an increase in overall content production. In the summer of 2023, McCloud became the advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

While at CUC, McCloud was part of the women's basketball program for three years. While being a key component to the Cougars on and off the court, McCloud also served on multiple committees, including SAAC executive board. She also chaired the Mental Matters group in SAAC, where she spearheaded a drive to promote the importance of student-athletes taking care of their mental health.

McCloud graduated from Concordia University Chicago with a bachelor's degree in the spring of 2021.
