Len Findlay, a veteran with over two decades of coaching experience, is in his fifth year as part of the Chico State men’s soccer coaching staff. He has played a key role in the Wildcats reaching postseason play in each of the last three seasons.

Findlay, who spent three seasons (1991-93) as a goalkeeper for Chico State, is actually in his second tour of duty as a coach for the Wildcats, having previously served as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams in 1994–95.

Findlay has logged several years coaching high school and college soccer throughout the North State. He landed his first head coaching job at Orland High School in 1995, spent 10 seasons (1996–2005) leading the Butte College women’s soccer program, while twice assuming head coaching duties (1999–2000, 2012–13) at Durham High School. Since 1994, Findlay has been a coaching instructor for the California Youth Soccer Association/US Soccer Federation.

Besides tending goal for Chico State, Findlay also played professionally, spending three years with the Chico Rooks (1993–95) and three seasons in England for Hull City AFC.

Findlay has lent his multi-subject teaching skills to several Butte County institutions, including Butte College, Durham High School and Intermediate School, Oroville Adult Education and the Chico Unified School District.

Findlay earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in sports and recreation studies from England’s North Staffordshire Polytechnic in 1988, and received his master’s degree in physical education from Chico State in 1999.
