Matt Verret enters his 17th year at Mississippi College as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine. Verret is responsible for overseeing 18 different school-sponsored sports.

Verret joined the staff at Mississippi College after a one year stint as the assistant athletic trainer at Louisiana College where he also served as the men’s basketball strength coach. Verret worked primarily with football and men’s basketball while with the Wildcats.

Verret brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Choctaw staff. Prior to his work at Louisiana College, Verret worked one year as the head athletic trainer at Bishop MacNamara High School of the Chicago Catholic League through the Orthopedic Associates of Kankakee. He also spent two years as the head athletic trainer with the Columbus River Dragons of the NBA D-League. There he worked under head coach and former Mississippi State All-American, Jeff Malone.

As a graduate assistant, Verret worked 1 1/2 years at Mississippi State University as the primary trainer for the softball program. He received his Master of Science degree in Sport Administration at MSU after receiving his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University. While at LSU, he worked as a student assistant with the Tigers’ athletic training staff.

Verret also has experience as an intern athletic trainer with the Chicago Bears of the National Football League and as a staff athletic trainer with the Manning Passing Academy.  He is certified as an athletic trainer through the NATABOC and a performance enhancement specialist through the NASM.  He is also certified as a CPR/AED/First Aid instructor for the American Heart Association.
