Mike Carpenter is in his tenth season (2021-22) as the head coach of the QU men's soccer program.

He has a career record of 95-48-15 in his tenure with QU.

Carpenter has also guided the Hawks to the NCAA Tournament four times in six seasons, including a historic run to the NCAA semifinals in 2014. That year, QU finished the regular season undefeated, tying the program record for wins in a season (21) and recorded the most shutouts in a season (15) in school history. Those Hawks also swept the GLVC major postseason awards, winning offensive (Jordan Roberts), defensive (Chris Garavaglia), freshman (Artan Emini) of the year honors. Carpenter was named the GLVC and Midwest Region Coach of the Year. Taylor Reis tacked on another major GLVC award, winning Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2015. 

The Hawks have earned the No. 1 seed in the GLVC Tournament twice in Carpenter's tenure. Carpenter has coached 18 all-region selections, four Capital One Academic All-Americans and five All-Americans.

Prior to being named head coach in July 2012, Carpenter spent nine seasons on the men's soccer coaching staff, the first eight as assistant coach. Prior to the 2011 season, Carpenter was named the program's associate head coach.

Carpenter's duties on the staff included assisting in all parts of the men’s soccer program and serving as the program’s lead goalkeeper trainer and recruiter.

In his nine seasons as an assistant under Jack Mackenzie, the Hawks had seven winning seasons, including five seasons with at least 10 wins. In 2011, the Hawks claimed their first-ever GLVC Tournament championship. Also, in 2010, QU advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998. In those two seasons, the Hawks had a combined record of 23-12-5.

Carpenter is a 2002 graduate of Quincy University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing. He also completed his Master's degree in communications from QU.

Carpenter played for the Hawks from 1997-2001. As the starting goalkeeper, he completed his career with a 1.13 goals against average. He has a National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Mike and his wife, Meghan, reside in Quincy with their daughter, Alice.
