Rod Baker rejoined the Ferrum men's soccer coaching staff as assistant coach in July 2012, after having previously served two years as assistant from 2004-05. He also served three years as head coach from 2006-08.

In October 2014, Baker assumed responsibility as head tennis coach for Ferrum's men's and women's programs. A Ferrum graduate, Baker earned his bacehlor's degree in Art in May 2003 after having played tennis and soccer four years for the Panthers.

As a senior in 2003, Baker led the Panther men's tennis team to a 15-3 record and a third-place finish in the USA South Athletic Conference. He secured the winning point in a 4-3 win over defending Pennsylvania Athletic Conference champion Eastern University that season. Baker started at goalkeeper three seasons for the soccer team. He would later served four years as head women's tennis coach from 2005-08.

Baker is the assistant director of soccer and director of goalkeeping for Valley AFC, based out of Roanoke, Virginia.
