Tim Penrod enters his 11th year at the helm of the SUNY Canton men's soccer program during the 2023-24 academic year.

Coach Penrod has amassed 66 wins at the helm of the Roos program including nine wins each in 2018 and during his first two seasons (2013, 2014) at the helm. SUNY Canton made the conference semifinals in 2019 falling to eventual champion, Thomas College. The Roos reached the NAC Championship match in 2018 in their first season in the conference, coming up just a single goal short of the program's first NCAA Tournament berth.The team finished 7-12-1 during the 2016 season culminating in a third place finish in the inaugural American Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament. SUNY Canton also finished with eight wins under Penrod during the 2017 season. Overall, the Roos have qualified for three straight NAC Tournaments under Penrod.

Penrod guided the Roos to a successful first season as the team posted a 9-9 overall record in 2013 including a five match win streak during the middle of the season. The team played a strong schedule that included a 2-0 win against Empire 8 opponent Alfred University and a 3-1 defeat of fellow NCAA Division III provisional member Alfred State College.

Prior to joining the Roos, Penrod spent six years as head men's soccer coach at Southern Vermont College. The Central New York native led the Mountaineers to their fourth consecutive berth in the New England Collegiate Conference tournament in 2012. In 2011, Penrod was named the NECC Coach of the Year after Southern Vermont won the regular season conference championship. The Mountaineers also qualified for the ECAC New England tournament that season for the first time in school history.

Penrod has been Southern Vermont's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee chair and served as game day manager, work-study coordinator and facilities coordinator. He was also the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Conference Representative for the NECC.

In addition to coaching at the collegiate level, Penrod has been the head coach of the U13 boys team in the Olympic Development Program in the Southern Tier; has been the head goalkeeping coach with the Peak Performance Soccer Academy in Amherst, Mass; and he has also worked at the Ray Reid Soccer School and No. 1 Soccer Camps in Connecticut, the Lighting Soccer Camps in Milton, Mass., and Camp Canadensis soccer camp in Pennsylvania.

Penrod holds a NSCAA Regional Coaching Diploma, an NSCAA National Coaching Diploma, an NSCAA Level I Goalkeeper Diploma, and an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.

Penrod earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education Social Studies from Juniata College, where played four years as a goalkeeper with the men's soccer program.
