A native of Bethlehem, Bill Moukoulis enters his 10th season on the Mountain Hawks' coaching staff in 2023. With the exception of college and the military, Moukoulis has lived in the Lehigh Valley Area for most of his life. He is a former U.S. Army Officer who served on active duty at Fort Knox, Kentucky during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

As the Mountain Hawks’ goalkeeper coach, Moukoulis has coached some of the program’s all-time best, Sam Miller and Miranda Royds who are 1-2 in program history for career goals against average (0.75 and 0.82, respectively). Most recently, Miranda Royds posted an 84.6 save percentage and 0.60 GAA in the spring of 2021, which was both among the Patriot League’s best. The 0.60 GAA was third in program history. The season prior, Royds recorded an 84.9 save percentage and 0.82 GAA, which was good for second and third in the Patriot League, respectively.

Miller, posted some of the most impressive numbers in program history (career numbers: 0.75 GAA and 85.0 save percentage). Her 0.58 GAA in 2017 is currently second in program history while her 0.64 mark in 2016 is fourth. Miller jumped onto the scene by posting 12 shutouts as a freshman, following it up with nine clean sheets as a sophomore. As a team, Lehigh allowed an identical 0.67 goals per game in both 2016 and 2017.

In Moukoulis’ first year with the Mountain Hawks in 2014, Lehigh posted a program-record unbeaten streak to begin Patriot League play (six games). For the season, Lehigh posted six shutouts and finished the season with a team GAA less than one. Moukoulis' second season in 2015 was highlighted by a dominant 7-0 win to begin the year and a 3-1 record against Philadelphia area schools (defeating Temple, Saint Joseph's and Penn). Lehigh also tied Monmouth, who finished the season 13-3-2.

The Mountain Hawks broke through in 2016 with an 11-5-2 season to advance to their first Patriot League Tournament since 2012. The Mountain Hawks began the season with eight straight shutouts and a 7-0-1 record. The shutout streak reached 832:31 (dating back to the previous season) before the team was scored upon. Lehigh’s defense was anchored by Miller, whose personal shutout streak of 758:34, is among the top 25 longest shutout streaks in NCAA history. She finished the season with a stellar 0.64 GAA and 85.9 save percentage to earn second team All-Patriot League honors. Lehigh won 13 Patriot League weekly awards on the season while Miller was named the NSCAA National Division I College Player of the Week following shutouts of Binghamton and Villanova.

The success continued in 2017 when Lehigh finished 9-5-4, including 5-2-2 in the Patriot League. The Mountain Hawks swept a weekend against Big East foes, defeating Villanova (1-0) and St. John’s (2-1) to spark a six-game unbeaten streak spanning most of the month of September. Lehigh was shut-out just twice in Patriot League play, finishing league play with 12 goals, third most in school history for league games. Individually, Riporti and Vitello earned All-Region for a second straight year while Miller, Maggie Wadsworth and Amanda Stratton also garnered All-Patriot League recognition. Lehigh’s five honorees were its most since its championship campaign of 2010. Miller tallied a 0.58 GAA and 88.3 save percentage, also earning Academic All-League honors.

In 2018, Moukoulis helped coach the Mountain Hawks to their first Patriot League Championship Game appearance since 2010. Needing a win to keep its season alive, Lehigh picked up a thrilling 2-1 victory at Holy Cross in the regular season finale. The Mountain Hawks went on to post 2-1 victories at Bucknell and vs. Colgate in the Patriot League Quarterfinals and Semifinals. Kayla Arestivo scored the game-winning goal in the final seconds of double overtime at Bucknell, while Sabrina Mertz netted the game-winner in the final minute against Colgate. Earlier in the week, Arestivo was named a first team All-Patriot League honoree while Mertz garnered second-team laurels. Arestivo went on to be earn All-Region recognition. In the championship game at Boston University, the Mountain Hawks gave themselves a chance deep into the contest, with BU scoring the game’s only goal in the 73rd minute.

In 2019, the Mountain Hawks finished 5-8-5 and 3-5-1 in the Patriot League, just missing the league tournament for the first time in four years. Lehigh did pick up impressive victories, including the program’s first-ever over Boston University and a Senior Day win over Holy Cross – handing the Crusaders what proved to be their only league regular season defeat.

The 2020 season was played in the spring of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The shortened six-game, Patriot League only schedule began with a 1-0 win over American and later saw ties against Bucknell, eventual league finalist Colgate and Loyola. Erin Keefe was named second team All-Patriot League and second team United Soccer Coaches All-Region. Meanwhile, Ryelle Shuey and Rebecca Van Siclen were named to the third team. Royds was named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week following a scoreless draw at Bucknell. She pitched three shutouts to finish her career with 12 clean sheets.

Moukoulis started his coaching career in the early 1990s, having served as an assistant coach at Liberty High School for the girl’s program. From there, he moved to the college ranks and was the assistant coach for the men’s team at DeSales University for two seasons. He later spent time as an assistant coach for the men's team at Muhlenberg College under Jeff Tipping.

Moukoulis holds a United States Soccer Federation “A” Level Coaching License. He has also served as a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association State Staff where he has instructed the state-level coaching license courses. 

In 1983, as a junior at Freedom High School, Moukoulis was part of the undefeated state championship team that posted a 22-0-2 record. Freedom went 54 games without a loss between the 1983 and 1984 seasons. He was a four-time letterwinner at Widener University and a member of the Chestnut Hill Football Club that won two Philadelphia Inter-County League First Division Championships in the early 1990s.

Moukoulis graduated from Widener University in 1990 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration and a major in Economics. He resides in Hanover Township with his wife Irene and twins Barbara and Peter. Professionally, he has worked in the Medical Device Industry for the past 20+ years. Moukoulis currently holds the position of Senior Manager, Sales Training & Clinical Education at Aesculap, Inc. (The Surgical Division of B. Braun Medical, Inc).
