Bobby Renneisen was named CSUSM’s head women's soccer coach in June 2014 after spending the previous eight seasons as the lead assistant for the Cougar men's and women's soccer teams. Between 2012 and 2014, Renneisen served as Associate Head Coach for both the men's and women's soccer programs.

Renneisen, who has coached at CSUSM since the school adopted men's and women's soccer in 2006, is responsible for the day-to-day operations for the women's soccer program, on the field and administratively. He holds a 53-49-35 record in nine seasons at the helm of the program.

With a freshman-heavy team in 2022, the Cougars ended the season with a 6-5-7 overall record and went 4-2-5 in CCAA play to finish in a three-way tie for fifth in the conference standings. The Cougars earned a program-record five All-CCAA selection in second-teamer Claire Hernandez and honorable mentions Jenna Frankina, Natalia Huntington, Allison Marcure and Sierra Moore.

After not seeing action in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Renneisen's team finished the 2021 season with an overall 6-6-3 record while going 2-6-3 in conference play. CSUSM was 5-3-0 in home games at The Cage.

In 2019, CSUSM went 5-8-2 overall and 4-6 in CCAA in a season shortened two games by wildfires around Sonoma State and Cal State Los Angeles. Redshirt senior Briana Daoust was named a CCAA honorable mention for the Cougars.

The 2018 season saw the Cougars shutout No. 1 UC San Diego at The Cage before qualifying for their second consecutive CCAA Tournament appearance. CSUSM ended the regular season with a 6-4-2 conference record (7-7-4 overall) and tied for fourth in the league standings. The Cougars earned two All-CCAA honorable mentions while Yesenia Betancourt was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District first team.

In CSUSM’s first-year of being a full-fledged member of the NCAA Division II in 2017-18, the women’s squad defeated Chico State in a shutout in the first round of the CCAA Championships. The Cougars concluded the season with an 8-7-3 overall record and 6-4-1 in conference play. Sophomore Bailey Cockrill was named to the 2017 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II Second Team and CCAA Championship Scholar for holding the highest GPA of all the participants in the CCAA Women’s Soccer Championship field this season.

In 2016, CSUSM finished 7-4-6 overall and 5-4-3 in CCAA conference play. Had they been eligible for post season play, CSUSM would have been the No. 6 seed in the tournament.  

In 2015, the Cougars went 3-9-5 in an injury-ravaged season and their first in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and NCAA Division II. Renneisen mentored two All-CCAA Honorable Mention honorees.

In his first season at the helm in 2014, Renneisen guided the Cougars to an Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Conference title, an appearance in the NAIA National Championship Second Round, and an 11-3-5 overall record. He was named A.I.I. Coach of the Year - the fourth time a CSUSM coach has taken home the award.

He mentored two NAIA All-Americans, six All-A.I.I. honorees, and had a pair of NAIA Scholar-Athletes on his squad. In addition, the Cougars went unbeaten for 13 straight matches during the season, a new program record.

As an assistant, Renneisen helped guide the women's soccer program to four A.I.I. conference titles (2008, 2009, 2011, 2013) and five appearances in the NAIA National Championships. Five of the players he tutored as an assistant were named NAIA All-America.

Renneisen and head men's soccer coach Ron Pulvers have built quite the lasting relationship; Renneisen transferred from Cal State San Bernardino to play for Pulvers in 2000 and 2001 at Baker University before taking a job as a graduate assistant on Pulvers' staff in 2002 and 2003.  After finishing his Master's at Baker in 2004, Renneisen coached high school (Martin Luther King HS) and club soccer (U-14 RFC girls) in Riverside before joining Pulvers on the CSUSM staff for the Cougars' inaugural season.

Raised in Riverside, Renneisen starred at Arlington High School where he captained the Lions for two seasons and was a two-time All-Ivy League selection. After starting his collegiate career at CSUSB (1998-99), Renneisen transferred to Kansas to play under Pulvers at Baker. The Wildcats won their conference in 2000 and Renneisen captained the team to the NAIA regional final in 2001. He also earned the Academic All-American distinction as a senior.

Renneisen currently holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “A” coaching license.
