Cameron McClarren comes to Sacred Heart as an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant starting in August 2023. 

Prior to SHU, McClarren spent his undergraduate years at Michigan State University covering a plethora of MSU’s sports teams during his four-year tenure. McClarren earned his start as a hockey beat reporter for MSU’s student radio station, IMPACT 88.9 FM, before becoming the station’s first Sports Broadcast Assistant in 2022, serving as a liaison between the sports department and MSU Athletics. 

McClarren earned his start in sports communications after serving as a student assistant within MSU Athletics, assisting with the men’s ice hockey, field hockey and track and field programs before moving into the primary contact role for the women’s tennis program in spring 2023. McClarren also served as a media liaison for the 2022 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament First Round in Ann Arbor, Mich. as well as the 2023 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four Ice Hockey Championship in Tampa, Fla. 

A native of The Colony, Texas, McClarren has also worked with semi-professional sports teams including the Flint Firebirds (OHL) and Lansing Common FC as well as working in the broadcast realm with Big Ten Network and Big Ten Network Student U. McClarren is a 2023 honors graduate of MSU earning bachelor’s degrees in Journalism and International Relations and is currently seeking a master’s degree in Sports Communication and Media from Sacred Heart.
