Chas Allen is in his 18th year as an assistant coach for the Heron soccer team. He also directed the William Smith junior varsity team in 2005.

Allen has helped the Herons to a 279-35-32 overall record and a national championship in 2013, while working with 110 All-Liberty League selections, including conference Players of the Year, Tracy Stankavage '08 (2007) and Brelynn Nasypany '11 (2007, 2008, 2010-Offensive Player of the Year), Amanda Davis '12 (2011), Olivia Zitoli '14 (2013), Madeline Buckley '15 (2014), Krista Longo '16 (2015), Kara Shue '17 (2016), Evie Manning '18 (2017) and Julia Keogh '21 (2021). Allen has been a part of the William Smith coaching staff that earned the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year award eight times.

In 2022, William Smith went 14-2-6 with a 6-0-3 mark in Liberty League play. The Herons captured their 15th consecutive regular season title. After earning an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, William Smith advanced to the 

The Herons were 19-2-1 during the 2021 season with a perfect 9-0-0 record in Liberty League play. William Smith claimed its 14th consecutive conference regular season and tournament title. The Herons advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament. 

The Herons posted a 21-2-1 overall record in 2019. William Smith finished the year ranked No. 2 in the final United Soccer Coaches Poll. The Herons rattled off 17 straight wins before being edged in the national championship game. The Herons went 9-0-0 in Liberty League play and captured its 13th straight regular season and tournament title.

William Smith was 8-1-0 in the Liberty League and captured its 12th consecutive regular season and tournament title. 

The Herons posted a 19-2-0 record in 2017. William Smith finished the year ranked No. 7 in the final United Soccer Coaches poll. The Herons advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament. William Smith was a perfect 9-0-0 in Liberty League play and captured their 11th straight conference regular season and tournament titles. 

The Herons posted a 21-1-0 overall record in 2016. The Herons finished the year ranked No. 5 in the final NSCAA poll. William Smith advanced to the NCAA tournament quarterfinals. The Herons were a perfect 8-0-0 in Liberty League play and captured their 10th straight conference regular season and tournament titles.

In 2014, Allen helped William Smith to a 16-3-1 overall record and its eighth straight Liberty League regular season and tournament titles. The Herons made their 25th appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship, advancing to the second round. 

In 2013, the Herons went 23-1-0 overall and earned the program's second national championship. The William Smith coaching staff was named the Liberty League, NSCAA Regional, D3soccer.com and NSCAA National Coaching Staff of the Year .

In 2012, Allen helped the Herons to a 14-2-4 overall record. William Smith won the Liberty League title for the sixth year in a row and made their 23rd apperance in the NCAA Championship, advancing to the second round.

In 2011, Allen helped guide William Smith to a 20-1-1 overall record. The Herons advanced to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship semifinals for the eighth time in program history. William Smith led the nation in goals against average (0.135), shutout percentage (.864), and save percentage (.919). The Herons won their fifth consecutive Liberty League regular season and tournament titles.

Previously the head coach of the Cayuga Community College men’s soccer team, Allen oversaw the Spartans meteoric development from a first-year program in 2001 to the Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) Championship in 2003 and 2004. Allen’s 2004 CCC squad was his most impressive, posting a 21-2-1 record, leading the nation in goals scored (112), and ranking second in goals allowed (12). That Spartan team boasted one All-American and four All-Region players, while Allen was honored with the MSAC Coach of the Year Award.

Allen, who currently lives in Geneva, is a former Olympic development coach with the New York State West Youth Soccer Association.

A 1989 graduate of Ithaca College, Allen has a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications management. He holds a U.S. Soccer Federation A license and a U.S. Soccer National Youth license.
