Dalyann comes to Bluefield State taking over as the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer with 13 years of Certified Athletic Training experience. She has been in the sports medicine field since she was a student trainer aide to the Athletic Trainer in 8th grade falling in love with the profession and continuing on still in the field. She comes to Bluefield State after working with a private Orthopedic Surgery Group, OrthoCincy, out of Cincinnati Ohio for the past year and a half. There working on her clinical skills increased her experience in advanced imaging, injury evaluation, procedural protocols and insurance approval.

Prior to the clinical setting, Dalyann worked from 2014-2021 at Central State University as the Interim Head Athletic Trainer and Assistant Athletic Trainer; working with 12 men’s and women’s sports at the Division II setting in the NCAA. During that time, she worked on policy upgrades, creating a peer-to-peer education program for students to come together, interact and gain education on various topics, as well as providing the utmost care for the student athletes. She worked closely with a team of Physicians for the student athletes to get the proper care in all aspects of their lives. During her time at Central State, Dalyann also worked with the Semi-Professional Soccer team, Dayton Dutch Lions for the summer of 2021 allowing her an additional perspective level of Sports Medicine management and care.

Dalyann spent a few years prior to Central State working at the Highschool level on the mainland and in Hawaii. She used that time working with different cultures expanding her cultural competency background. Prior to her Highschool experience Dalyann worked at Division I college, Wright State University with the Softball program as a Graduate Assistant getting her Master’s degree in Education. She spent her 2 years working at this level continuing her skills, making important connections with her Mentors who have helped her grow into the Athletic Trainer she is today. Dalyann also received her Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training from Wright State University in 2011.

Dalyann is a mother of a wonderful 13-year-old boy, Gabriel. She supports her son in his educational growth as he wants to be a Marine Biologist and they enjoy weekly chess matches. They are both looking forward to joining the Bluefield State University family in this adventure.
