Joining the 'Cats after a successful stretch as the head coach at Mercy, Danny Leon, Jr. wrapped up a successful first year as an assistant coach with the Adelphi University women's soccer team in 2023.

A coach who once reached the national semifinals as an assistant at Mercy, Leon helped guide the Panthers to that same result in 2023.

With Leon on the sidelines, the 'Cats not only reached the finals of the NE10 Championship, but also knocked off No. 1 ranked The College of Saint Rose in penalty kicks to lay claim to the program's first NCAA Division II East Region title in twenty years.

In his four seasons (2019-22) as head coach at Mercy, the Mavericks posted an over-.700 winning percentage with three NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2022, Leon's squad avenged a double-overtime loss the year prior by knocking off Molloy in the ECC final for the program's first ECC Championship since 2017.

A two-time ECC Coach of the Year in 2021 and 2022, Leon mentored close to twenty ECC All-Conference players. In 2022, under Leon's tutelage, the Mavericks cleaned up all of the ECC's major awards, highlighted by Nikki Bermudez's ECC Player of the Year and eventual D2CCA All-America honor.

Originally from Flushing, Leon played four seasons for the men's soccer team at Mercy. He collected 13 career goals and 10 assists and graduated with his bachelor's degree in Sociology in 2014. Leon also went on to secure his master's in Organizational Leadership from Mercy in 2019.

In his spare time, Leon has also coached the NY Surf Soccer Club, first starting in Westchester County from 2017-18, before coaching the Farmingdale circuit -- where he has remained since 2020.

Leon resides in Elmont, N.Y.
