Denise Rude '09 enters her six consecutive and seventh overall season coaching with the women’s soccer program.

Before assisting at Bethany, she coached with the White Bear Lake Soccer Club.

Rude was a two-year starting defender for the Vikings and her presence helped Bethany reduce its goals against by an astounding 20 goals in 2008. She then transitioned into a coaching role with the program and helped lead the 2010 Vikings to a 13-6-2 program record and the ninth-best single season turn-around in NCAA DIII women’s soccer.

Aside from coaching, Rude has taught English in locations such as Chile, South Korea, and Thailand. She currently resides in Madison Lake with her husband Ian and is a Language and Leadership Development Instructor at Cambria Manufacturing in Le Sueur.

Abotu Coach Rude's contributions, Head Coach Emma Morris said, "Coach Rude is an experienced member of our coaching staff who encompasses the quote 'lead by example'. Her expertise and knowledge in both soccer coaching and fitness helps to push our girls in many different physical areas of the game. Coach Rude's life experiences, which have seen her live in many different states, countries, and cultures, means she is an invaluable resource when it comes to our international and out-of-state players. She also plays a key role in the recruitment of new Bethany Vikings, and will be helping to coach our defensive unit. We are excited to have her returning for her 7th season on our staff this year!"
