Huey Ferguson was hired ahead of the 2023 season to join Phil Casella’s coaching staff for the Wagner women’s soccer program.

“I'm super excited about reuniting with Huey. We have known each other for more than 20 years. We played against each other while in college and then we played with each other as teammates for the New Jersey Imperials, who at the time was one of the minor league affiliates of the NY/NJ Metrostars of Major League Soccer (MLS),” Casella said. “He was a phenomenal player who has had so much success on the field, scoring tons of goals and winning championships as a player. He has a great mind for the game and I can't wait for him to start working with our players.”

Ferguson played for the St. John’s Red Storm during his four-year collegiate career from 1991-94, becoming the school’s all-time leading goal scorer. He was inducted into the St. John’s University Hall of Fame in 2013. Ferguson spent eight years playing professional soccer before becoming a youth soccer coach and mentor for student-athletes.

He was also an academy director for Storm Soccer Academy, Tri-State Soccer and TSF Academy. In 2020, Ferguson was inducted into the New York City Soccer Hall of Fame.

Most recently, the West Milford, NJ, native served as the manager of business development for York College Athletics, as well as the executive director of the TSF Academy.
