Van Schie is from Wirral, England and in his first season at Davenport as an assistant coach. He attended Calday Grange Grammar School prior to his arrival in America. Jake was part of Wrexham’s Academy Program from the ages of 8-16. 

Van Schie was selected to represent Wales at the college level where he played in international matches against England and Australia. He received an international cap for his appearances in these games.

In 2017, he moved to the United States to attended Davenport University. He graduated from Davenport in 2023 with a Bachelor’s in Marketing. Jake played for the men’s soccer team at Davenport between 2017-2019. During his time with the Panthers, Jake played over 4,000 minutes in three years on defense. Van Schie was part of the 2017 team that won the University’s first GLIAC tournament title after beating Saginaw Valley 1-0 in the final in Midland, Mich.

Since becoming a coach, he has coached for four years at Michigan Rangers in Hudsonville across all age groups. Van Schie was the assistant for the Michigan Rangers NPSL team in 2023 who finished second in their conference. He also worked as a student assistant with the Davenport Women’s Soccer program in the spring of 2023.
