Lucy Gunton-Jones serves as Iona's Assistant AD/Facilities & Operations. Joining the staff in October 2020, Gunton-Jones joined the Maroon & Gold family after serving as the Athletic Operations and Facilities Coordinator for Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. She served in the role for four years while also working as an assistant coach for the Blackbirds' women’s soccer program.

While at LIU, Gunton-Jones oversaw day-to-day operations and management of the Steinberg Wellness Center including coordinating internal and external scheduling for use of multipurpose athletic facilities. She served as unit administrator for university finance to manage payroll for her staff. Gunton-Jones managed game day student staff for set-up/break up and game day operations. Additionally, she was department liaison for men’s and women’s basketball game-day ticket operations, including management of ticket sales, staff and all ancillary duties.

Gunton-Jones, a four-year student-athlete with the Blackbirds, remained attached to LIU’s women’s soccer program after graduating in 2016, serving as an assistant coach. She handled regional recruiting, scouting and evaluation and also facilitated all areas of team operations such as travel, finance, equipment and practice planning.

Gunton-Jones graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Long Island University in 2016 and earned a Master of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology in 2018. She was a recipient of the Josephine Blumer Outstanding Student Award as well as earned NEC Academic Achievement and Honors Roll awards.

As a student-athlete with the LIU Blackbirds women’s soccer team, Gunton-Jones was named NEC First-Team and Blackbird MVP twice. She was a NSCA All-American in 2015.
