Marissa "MJ" Miller joins the UCCS women’s soccer program while pursuing her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Research, and Policy at UCCS while working primarily with the team’s goalkeepers. Miller joins the UCCS staff after coaching stops at Carson-Newman University and Desales University. She also spent several years teaching middle school in Tennessee and working with the goalkeepers of Tennessee Soccer Club. 

Miller was a staff member of the DeSales University (Center Valley, PA) women’s soccer program in 2015 as a graduate assistant coach. Winning conference with the program’s first-ever MAC Freedom tournament title, she primarily worked with the goalkeepers while pursuing her M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction with a Special Education emphasis. 

Miller joined the Carson-Newman University (Jefferson City, TN) women’s soccer program as a graduate assistant in 2016 while finishing her M.Ed and working with the goalkeepers. The Eagles finished 17-4-1 and won both the regular season and SAC conference tournament. The CN staff was also named Southeast Region Staff of the Year by NSCAA. 

She is a 2015 graduate of Tusculum College (Greeneville, TN) with a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education, Magna Cum Laude, and a member of Alpha Chi. 

During Miller's tenure at TC, she was a four-year starter in net for the Pioneers. Miller was also team captain, two-time NCAA II All-Region, Honorable Mention All-South Atlantic Conference, and two-time South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week. She also holds several TC records, including #1 in saves (323), #1 in shutouts (31), #1 in minutes played (6537), #5 in GAA (2011-2014. GAA 1.02). Miller was also on the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, Dean’s list, and a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in her time with the Pioneers.

A native of Canton, MI., Miller was a four-year letter winner at Plymouth High School where she was an All-State selection twice, All-Region selection three times, and All-District selection four times. Growing up, Miller played club soccer for Canton Soccer Club, Northville Nike Rush, and Michigan Wolves and Hawks Soccer Club. 

Miller holds her National D and Goalkeeping I & II licenses.
