Just the sixth coach in St. John Fisher’s history, Molly Romano has quickly transformed the women’s soccer program into a perennial contender in the Empire 8 and beyond since her hiring in 2019.

Romano continued her success in 2022, with the Cardinals finishing the season with a 8-3-6 overall record, and an undefeated 6-0-3 conference mark. The Empire 8 accolades came in as Fisher earned E8 Coaching Staff of the Year along with Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Over the last four seasons, Romano has guided Fisher to four consecutive Empire 8 Championship berths and a spot in the title game in 2021 for the first time in program history.  Since assuming the reins, Romano has recruited some of the top players in the conference as Fisher has earned 25 All-Conference selections and boasted the Empire 8 Player and Rookie of the Year at the conclusion of the 2021 campaign.

In 2021, Romano helped lead the Cardinals to a 10-6-1 overall mark, which marked the most victories in a season since 1995.  The Cardinals defeated the University of Rochester for the first time in nearly four decades and led the Empire 8 in scoring offense at 2.94 goals per game.

In her first year at the helm, Romano and the Cardinals earned an Empire 8 Regular Season Championship for the first time in team history and earned the right to host an Empire 8 Championship game inside Growney Stadium.  With Romano on the sidelines, Fisher posted a 7-7-3 overall mark that included a seven-game unbeaten streak to close out the regular season.  Fisher was 4-0-3 in Empire 8 play including a 2-1 come-from-behind win against Nazareth College - the team's first win over the Golden Flyers in nearly 30 years.

Prior to Fisher, Romano honed her craft on the sidelines for Rochester Institute of Technology where she helped lead the Tigers to a 23-10-7 record, back-to-back appearances in the Liberty League Championship and the program’s first-ever trip to the NCAA Championship.

Romano was an offensive threat during her playing career at John Carroll University. She earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference, All-Academic honors and secured the team’s offensive MVP in 2003 and 2004. Romano graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in middle childhood education from John Carroll in 2005.
