Rebecca Capinera was named Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator in January of 2020.

At D’Youville, Capinera assisted in the NCAA reclassification from Division III to Division II Membership. She oversees student-athlete development, and is involved in strategic decision-making for the department, inclusion efforts and alumni relations. Capinera is a direct supervisor to Athletic Academic Success, Baseball, Men's Lacrosse, Women's Soccer, and Rowing.

In the 2022-2023 academic year, Rebecca applied and received the Women's Sport Foundation Tara VanDerveer Fund for the Advancement of Women in Sport. The fund works to address gender equity in coaching and Capinera serves at the Mentor Coach for the award recipient.

Capinera also serves as a Title IX Deputy Coordinator, liaison to the Athletics Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and sits on the Institutional Bias Review Board.

“Rebecca is going to have an immediate impact on our student-athletes and department,” said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Ona Halladay after the hiring announcement. “She has a wealth of experience starting as a successful Division I women’s soccer player to holding many high-level coaching positions throughout her career. She is skilled at building culture and comradery among student-athletes and coaches. She has been successful in developing programs to support student-athlete development, professional development for coaches, and community engagement. I am excited for Rebecca to make an immediate impact on our students, staff, and administration as we move boldly forward as an athletic department and institution.”

Prior to D'Youville, Capinera served as the Associate Athletic Director from 2015 to 2019 at Northfield Mount Hermon. She served as a co-chair of Athletic Task Force, creating a strategic plan to reinvigorate NMH Athletics and directly impact programs in the immediate future and beyond. At NMH, Capinera oversaw coaches and student-athletes, serving as a resource for recruiting, professional development, and program oversight. She co-led the Student-Athlete Leadership Committee, helping facilitate leadership among student-athletes and serving as an advocate and liaison for over 140 NCAA-bound athletes to Division I, Division II, and Division III institutions.

Capinera has a great deal of experience at the collegiate level as a Division I player and coach. At the University of Massachusetts from 2011 to 2015, Capinera served as an assistant coach for the women’s soccer program. She assisted in the development of four A-10 Tournament appearances, 12 All-Atlantic 10 Honors, and four All-New England selections with NSCAA College Team Academic Awards from 2011 to 2015.

Beginning her coaching career at St. Bonaventure University in 2009 as an assistant coach, Capinera helped the Bonnies capture two 10-plus win seasons in 2009 and 2010 as the team went to back-to-back A-10 Tournament appearances. In addition, the team had five all-conference selections and five NSCAA Scholar All-East Region honors, and the team received the NSCAA Team Academic Award from 2009 to 2011.

Capinera obtained her bachelor's degree in Sport Management from St. John’s University in 2009. As a four year member of the Redstorm Women's Soccer program, Capinera was named an All-Big East Scholar Athlete twice.
