Castro joined the Rutgers University-Newark men's soccer team coaching staff in 2021 as an assistant coach. He has been the coach at Long Branch High School for 10+ years and is recently coming off of a division championship. During his playing years, Castro played at New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opponents, Kean University, where he would eventually serve as the captain his senior season. He holds several coaching degrees including NSCAA National Diploma as well as his National E License with US Soccer.

Castro was born in Spain and grew up in Middletown, NJ. He currently has one son and his wife is expecting their second. A fun fact is that coach Stan Lembryk was his coach when he was the assistant coach at Kean University.
