Jonathan Woods, aka Jono, comes back to LCU in the Spring of 2024 as a full-time assistant coach after spending the last year serving as an academic advisor at Georgia Southern University.  The Chesterfield, England native is a graduate of the Chaparrals, graduating in 2021 with a degree in Exercise Sports Science. Woods played five seasons for the Chaparrals and captained the team from 2017-2021. The center defender played his 2016 season for Bacone College (Muskogee, Okla.) before transferring to LCU and appearing in 60 career games where he compiled five career goals. In the spring of 2022, Woods served as the program’s interim head coach during the transition prior to Coach Cone’s arrival. Woods conducted all the training sessions, recruited, and coached the team during their spring season. Jono has a master’s degree in secondary education and is working his way through the USSF and United Soccer Coaches Licensing. He is married to his wife Jessica and resides in Lubbock.
