Julio Rubio is in second season as the Director of Soccer Operations at CSUN.

Rubio began his collegiate playing career at Seattle University where he played in 34 matches and totaled six goals, four assists, 12 points and 25 shots for the Redhawks from 2015-16.

Rubio transferred into the CSUN program prior to the start of the 2017 season. He finished 2017, third on the Matadors in goals (3), and points (8). Rubio scored the game winning goal against Sacramento State in the first round of the 2017 Big West Tournament.

He was forced to take a medical redshirt in 2018 after three games. As a redshirt senior in 2019, Rubio was 10th in Division I in assists (9) and 18th in assists per game (0.47). He scored two goals for a total of 13 points, the third most on the team.

Rubio played professional soccer for two seasons (2020-21) with the Los Angeles Force and Stumptown AC of the NISA.
