During her first season as an assistant coach, she helped work with the entire team, but with a focus on the goalkeepers. Kylee Carafoli played in five games for the Catamounts, starting two, while Erin Murphy played in 15 games, starting 14 for Vermont. The combination posted a .754 save percentage with 86 saves and 28 goals allowed with a 1.75 goals against average. Under Jenkins’ guidance the two won four games and posted four shutouts on the season.

Alex Jenkins, a native of Smithfield, RI, and prior two year captain and UVM Women’s Soccer Alum (2013-2016), joins the Cats for the 2022 season as an assistant coach.

She is currently a Medical Student at the Robert Larner College of Medicine at UVM taking a research year between her third and fourth year. She has an interest in Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics and Sports Medicine. She is excited for the opportunity to combine her passions – coaching, soccer, the Catamounts, and sports medicine – as she brings her knowledge of the game on the field, and important pieces off the field, like recovery, nutrition, and mental health to support her athletes.

Prior to coaching with the Cats and starting medical school, she had been a performance and strength and conditioning coach for a Parisi Speed School, CrossFit coach, Challenger Sports soccer coach, physical therapy aide, and coach for the local soccer club BFC. She graduated from the Honors College with a B.S. in Neuroscience from UVM in 2017.

She wrapped up her UVM soccer career with 72 games played which is tied for the third-most in program history, and back-t0-back semifinal appearances her junior and senior years. She won the 2016 Jeff Stone Memorial Award at the Rally Awards, the award recognizes exceptional contributions in the area of community service and campus leadership. She was UVM's representative at SAAC America East meetings in the summer of 2015 and spring of 2016.

Before UVM, she played for the FC Stars of Massachusetts and Smithfield High School, where she was named a NSCAA High School Scholar All-American and to the NSCAA All-Region Team in 2012. She led Smithfield to the Rhode Island Intercollegiate League Division I State Championship and was a RIIL All-State First Team in 2012.
