Neal Sand serves as an Athletic Trainer in the University of Vermont Athletic Medicine Department

He provides the day-to-day care and prevention of injury for women's soccer and women's swimming and diving teams at UVM.

Originally from Clifton Park, N.Y., Sand is a 1988 graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a major in physical education/athletic training. He went on to get a master's degree in athletic training at Indiana St. University.

Prior to arriving at the University at Vermont, Sand was the Head Athletic Trainer at SUNY-Plattsburgh from 1994-2001.

Sand has been a volunteer to several organizations and events throughout his career. He has donated his time to New York's Empire State Games several times, the 1995 United States Olympic Sports Festival, the Albany Maulers Semi Pro Football Team (1991), USA Youth Soccer, the Junior Olympic Wrestling North Regionals (1990), and was a volunteer EMT in Schenectady, N.Y.

Sand is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is also certified in dry needling by the Integrative Dry Needling Institute, Kinesio taping, and Graston manual medicine techniques.
