Anne Metz enters her first season as an assistant coach at Samford.

"I'm very excited to welcome Anne to my staff," head coach Todd Yelton said. "After going through the process, it became clear that she had the qualities and character that we value at Samford. I know she will do a fantastic job and the girls will love working with her."

Metz comes to Samford after serving as the head coach at Colorado Christian University for the last two seasons. During her time in charge of the program, Metz coached six players that earned honorable mention All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors.

Prior to being named head coach at Colorado Christian, she served three seasons as an assistant coach at CCU.

"I feel excited and privileged to join the coaching staff here at Samford University," Metz said. "This exceptional program reflects the values that are important to me as I continue in my coaching career. I look forward to learning from Todd (Yelton) and Carl (Goody) and contributing to the excellence and success of this program."

Metz played collegiately at John Brown University. She was highly decorated student-athlete during her time at John Brown, being named All-Conference three times, a team captain for two years and All-American her senior year with the Golden Eagles.

During her time as a student-athlete, Metz tallied 20 goals, 24 assists and 52 of her 106 shots on goal for a nearly fifty percent on goal percentage. Her efforts helped her team to two conference championships and two national tournament appearances. Metz graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Intercultural Studies with Academic All-Conference honors.

Following graduation, Anne played in the Women's Premier Soccer League, and after seeing success there was offered a professional contract to play in the Scottish Premier League.

The Samford soccer program has been the model of consistency since Yelton took over in 2002. He has led the program to 14 regular-season conference titles, seven NCAA Tournament appearances and six conference tournament championships.
