Jonathan Farris is in his sixth year as the director of strength and conditioning at Samford. He is responsible for the strength and conditioning program for Samford’s men’s basketball, women’s basketball and soccer teams, and also assists with the strength and conditioning program for the football team.

Farris, who also served for two seasons as the associate director of strength and conditioning, came to Samford after working on the strength and conditioning staff at the University of Alabama since June 2010. Farris served as a strength and conditioning coach at Alabama from June 2012 until being hired at Samford in the summer of 2013.

During that period, Farris was the head strength and conditioning coach for the Alabama volleyball and women’s tennis teams, and the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the football, rowing and swimming and diving teams.

Farris earned a bachelor science degree in exercise science from Lipscomb University in August 2010. He also earned a masters of the arts degree in human performance with emphasis in sport management from the University of Alabama in May 2013.
