Anne Westbrook Gay began working with Samford athletics in July 2017. She began her career as an intern athletic trainer for the cross country and track & field teams, as well as assisting with football. In 2018, she shifted roles as an assistant athletic trainer for the soccer and women’s tennis teams, then soccer and women’s golf in 2021. Anne transitioned to the Director of Sports Medicine for Olympic Sports in September 2022, while continuing to serve the women’s soccer and women’s golf programs. She is also an athletics representative on the Samford CARES team.

Prior to her arrival at Samford, she earned her Master’s degree in Athletic Training from the University of Arkansas in 2017. During her time at Arkansas, she completed her graduate assistantship with track & field, gymnastics, baseball, and Springdale High School football. Anne worked as an intern at EXOS training facility in Gulf Breeze, Florida during the summer of 2016. She gained hands on experience providing care to injured military personnel, professional, collegiate, and high school athletes.

She holds several professional certifications and licenses, including Licensed Athletic Trainer from the Alabama Board of Athletic Trainers (LAT); Certified Athletic Trainer from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (ATC); and American Heart Association CPR/AED for Healthcare Providers.

A native of Ojai, California, Anne received her Bachelor of Science from Auburn University in 2014. She resides in Birmingham with her husband Michael and dogs Russell and Ky
