Cesar Barrientos joined head coach Lenny Armuth's staff in the summer of 2009. As the Rangers' goalkeeping coach, Barrientos helped the Rangers to an ECAC championship in his first season and again in 2018. He also helped guide Drew to the Landmark Conference title and a berth in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III tournament in 2017.

In addition to his coaching duties, Barrientos serves as Drew's athletic equipment and facilities manager.

Prior to coming to Drew, through his passion and knowledge of the game Barrientos has coached and trained at a number of clubs and/or schools. Following graduation, he coached the goalkeepers at his alma mater, Madison High School, for six years. Between coaching at Madison and joining the Drew men’s soccer program, he was a U18 coach at Primo United, trained goalkeepers at Primo Soccer Club, and coached at both Chatham United Villa Walsh and Madison Soccer Club. Barrientos has his goalkeeper state, regional and national diplomas from the United Soccer Coaches.

Aside from coaching, Barrientos spent two years with the New York/New Jersey MetroStars.
