In 2020, his first year on the staff, Jean Paul Verhees aided the team's journey through navigating the COVID-19 pandemic in a year that saw the club's season not actually begin until February of 2021.

Regardless of circumstance the club rallied together, going 7-5, including 6-0 in GSAC play, to win the GSAC Championship.

Verhees played for the Westmont men's soccer team from 1970-73 and helped the Warriors to the 1972 NAIA National Championship, when he was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Performer. Jean Paul, a three-time NAIA All-Tournament selection and 1972 NSCAA All-American, is now a member of the Westmont College Hall of Fame. He ranks third all-time in program history in goals (58) and sixth in points (128).

Jean Paul was the head coach of the Westmont women's soccer team from 1983-86 and won the program's first NAIA National Championship in 1985. He also served as the women's soccer head coach at the University of California at Berkeley, where he twice guided his team to the NCAA Division I College Cup as one of the top-four teams in the country. Jean Paul also had a stint as the women's soccer head coach at the University of San Francisco and served as an assistant coach for the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team.

Verhees also has 14 years of youth level coaching experience in both elite club soccer and Southern California and regional teams in the Region IV Olympic Development Program (ODP).

Jean Paul is a native of Helmond, the Netherlands, where he was a youth professional player and later excelled as a player in the NASL and ASL leagues in the United States. Currently, he is involved in coaching, directing and consulting youth soccer programs in Washington state and is a longtime member of the Northwest Soccer Camp Elite programs. His love for teaching, guiding young players and helping them develop their understanding of the game of soccer continues to be his greatest passion. Verhees is a member of the United Soccer Coaches association, holds a NSCAA National Youth license, a USSF "A" license, Swiss National "B" license and a certificate of the KNVN Royal Dutch.
