Westmont women's soccer alumna Lauren Matthias, formerly known as Dorr, completed her first season as the lead assistant coach/goalkeeper coach in 2019. She helped coach the Warriors to a shared GSAC regular season championship, the program's first conference title since she was a senior on the team in 2015, and to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Tournament.

In 2020, Matthias aided the team's journey through navigating the COVID-19 pandemic that saw the club's season not actually begin until February of 2021.

Regardless of circumstance the club rallied together, going 7-5, including 6-0 in GSAC play, to win the GSAC Championship.

Lauren played goalkeeper for the Warriors from 2012-2015 and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.

"I'm very excited to be stepping into a more full-time role, and could not think of a better program to be a part of," said Matthias after being hired. "I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to be returning to my alma mater as a coach and look forward to pouring back into the program that gave so much to me as a player.”

Before becoming lead assistant coach/goalkeeper coach ahead of the 2019 season, Matthias served on the coaching staff for the two seasons prior.

"I hope to bring to the table my past experience as a Westmont Warrior, as well as a fresh perspective,” continued Matthias. "Being a former player I understand the expectations, style of play, and the pursuit of excellence that this program demands. In the area of goalkeeping, I hope to develop physically and technically sound keepers in the net; this means making the routine saves, along with the occasional big saves, look easy. I am looking forward to working alongside Jenny, and can’t wait to play a role in the coming season.”

As a Warrior, Matthias was a part of a 2013 team that finished as the National Runner-up. She has also been a part of two GSAC Tournament titles, as well as two GSAC regular season championships.

She ranks fourth in program history in career goals against average (0.80), eighth in shutouts (10.3), 11th in saves (73), and 13th in saves per game (1.49).

Matthias completed her Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletics Administration from Concordia University Irvine in July 2020.

Lauren currently lives in Santa Barbara with her husband, Westmont baseball alumnus Blake Matthias ('15). The couple are expecting their first child later this year.
