Sexton returns for his third season assisting the Women’s Soccer staff in 2022.

Sexton is the former Northland College women’s soccer coach from 2015-2019. He led the LumberJills to four consecutive postseason appearances in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) and led the team to its first-ever regular-season UMAC championship in 2016.

Prior to joining the staff at Northland College, Sexton served as the Assistant Elite Club National League (ECNL) Director for Birmingham United Soccer Association (BUSA) and as the Assistant General Manager and Assistant Coach for Alabama FC Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) team. 

Sexton assisted in the creation of the Alabama FC’s WPSL team in 2013 and with-in the first two years helped the team reach the back to back conference championship games and in 2014 Alabama FC were named Conference Champions qualifying for the Regional and National play-offs.

Sexton is a Northland College alumni and graduated in 2001 with a degree in Computer Information Systems with a Business emphasis.  After his graduation, Sexton remained at Northland where he was an assistant coach for the men's and women's soccer team for four years. 

During his four years of playing at Northland College Sexton had the unique experience of playing goalkeeper, forward and eventually would become one of the team’s center backs.  He was a three time Upper Midwest Athletic Conference first team member, and was named the team captain for his sophomore, junior and senior years.

Originally from Norwich, England, Sexton had a distinguished playing career that allowed him numerous opportunities to play in Sweden, Holland, Germany and eventually in the US. 

Sexton’s coaching career began early in England where he was the Regional Camp Director for the Steve Bruce Soccer Schools located in Norwich and Manchester and served as the Assistant High School Coach at the Hewett School.  During his coaching time in England, Sexton received his English F.A. Preliminary License and UEFA Level 1 by the age of eighteen. Since moving to the US Sexton has earned his NSCAA National, NSCAA Advanced National, NSCAA National Goalkeeper Diploma and the USYS National Youth License.
