Nick Walsh joined Eastern New Mexico in June 2023 as the Assistant Sports Performance Coach, beginning his first season with the Greyhounds.
Prior to landing in Portales, Walsh spent one season with New Mexico Military Institute as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Along with their roles in strength and conditioning, Walsh was the coordinator of the Godfrey Athletic Center (GAC), along with managing the GAC and its support staff. With the Broncos programs, Walsh created and implemented programs for NMMI baseball, men’s basketball, and women’s cross-country teams. In his role at the GAC, Walsh helped with general maintenance of the athletic weight room and recreation facility.
Beginning their career at the University of Toledo, Walsh first joined the Rockets as a strength & conditioning intern working with the football program during the summer of 2017. Walsh rejoined the Rockets’ athletics programs in January 2019 as a strength & conditioning graduate assistant and transitioned to a part-time assistant until May 2022. While at Toledo, Walsh helped plan and program all elements for the football strength & conditioning, and designed mobility/squat program for athletes with movement limitations.
In between their two stints at Toledo, Walsh worked as a strength and conditioning intern at The Ohio State University from May 2018 until December 2018. With the Buckeyes, Walsh assisted several men’s and women’s athletic teams during training sessions and implemented an intern training program.
Walsh comes to ENMU with certifications as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Strength & Conditioning Coach (SCCC), along with First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
Walsh completed their Bachelor of Science in health & human performance from Heidelberg University in May 2019. Furthering their education, Walsh completed their Master of Arts in recreation and leisure studies at the University of Toledo in December 2020.
