Shannon Pennington is a former player for Cal Lutheran and has been an assistant with the women's soccer program since 1999. She is the longest tenured coach on the Cal Lutheran soccer staff, entering her 25th year as an assistant coach. Her many years of coaching have allowed her to share the rich traditions with each and every player that comes through the program doors.

She has served as an assistant under head coaches Dan Kuntz, Nancie Moskowitz and Frank Marino. The team had a program first in the 2017 NCAA postseason, making their first Sweet Sixteen appearance. The Cal Lutheran staff earned SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year accolades.

She graduated from CLU in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and later received a master’s degree in Education in 2003.

On top of coaching at her alma mater, Pennington spent six years coaching the junior varsity team at her high school Chaminade.

In her off time Pennington is an Elementary School teacher, inspiring the minds of the future. She enjoys playing soccer, hanging out with family and friends, and spending time with her dogs.
