Tom Bowen joned the Hofstra women's soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach in August 2023. Bowen came to Hofstra after spending one season at Iona and has also coached at LIU Post, Seton Hall, and Adelphi.

Bowen’s coaching career began at LIU Post, where he served as assistant coach for the men’s team between 2016 and 2018. The Pioneers were 36–2-3 (.915) over his three seasons with the program, finishing as the ECC Regular Season champions in 2016 and 2017. The program was ranked No. 1 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches National Rankings during the 2016 season and earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in the 2016 and 2017 season. Bowen was part of a staff that was recognized as the United Soccer Coaches Regional Staff of the Year following the 2017 campaign.

Bowen moved to Seton Hall for one season before joining the Adelphi men’s soccer coaching staff in 2019. He helped the program earn an Northeast-10 Regular Season championship, a No. 1 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches National Ranking and earn the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. That year, the coaching staff was honored with the United Soccer Coaches Regional Staff of the Year award.

After three seasons at Adelphi, Bowen joined the professional ranks as head coach of the Long Island Rough Riders, a professional organization in USL League Two, in 2021. The Rough Riders won the Metropolitan Division championship in 2021 and Bowen was honored as the USL League Two Coach of the Month in June of 2021. In 2022, Bowen guided the Rough Riders to the USL League Two National Championship, finishing as the runner up. Bowen coached the team to a 16-2-2 record in 2022, the most wins in a season for the club since dropping to amateur status in 2006. Bowen took the Rough Riders back to the USL Playoffs in 2023 as the team finished with a 12-2-1 record.

Bowen earned his degree in exercise science from Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2012. He went on to earn an MBA from LIU Post in 2016, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in physical education from Adelphi.
